Join us for a weekend of community, connection, and collective action at the Honeycomb Arts and Wellness Collective as we come together to build a new community garden space for the neighborhood.
The event will take place May 16–17 (Saturday and Sunday) from 12 PM–8 PM and is completely free and open to the public. Community members are invited to stop by for any amount of time to help plant, build, connect, and enjoy a weekend centered around mutual aid, sustainability, and community care.
All gardening supplies and materials will be provided, and volunteers will be offered a free community barbecue lunch during the day. Each evening will end with a community bonfire at 8 PM as we celebrate the work accomplished together.
Throughout the weekend, guests can enjoy:
Hands-on community gardening and planting
Free food and refreshments for volunteers
Community bonfires
Local organizations and community partners tabling
Information about mutual aid and local initiatives
Opportunities to volunteer and get involved
Family-friendly community activities
Community resource sharing
We will also be collecting shelf-stable food donations to support the Freedom Fighter Family Pantry initiative and help stock local community pantries throughout the Mahoning Valley.
Community partners, including the Community Liberation Foundation, will be onsite sharing information about ongoing local projects such as the Undue Medical Debt campaign working to erase medical debt in Mahoning County.
This weekend is about more than planting a garden — it’s about growing stronger community connections, creating sustainable local spaces, and building a future rooted in care, support, and collective action.
