Community Civic Education Project

A Civic Education & Community Empowerment Initiative by the Mahoning Valley Freedom Fighters

Project Overview

The Community Civic Education Project (CCEP) exists to help people understand their rights, their power, and how local systems actually work—so they can make informed decisions and advocate for themselves and their communities.

CCEP provides nonpartisan civic education, practical resources, and community-based learning opportunities focused on democracy, human rights, and local civic participation. Our goal is not to tell people what to think, but to ensure everyone has access to the information they need to participate fully and safely in civic life.

This project is rooted in the belief that democracy works best when people are informed, engaged, and supported—not intimidated, excluded, or left in the dark.

What CCEP Focuses On

Through workshops, materials, and community conversations, CCEP helps demystify topics such as:

  • Individual and community rights

  • How local government and public systems function

  • Civic participation beyond voting

  • Understanding policies and how they impact daily life

  • How to engage safely, ethically, and effectively in community advocacy

All education is designed to be accessible, respectful, and rooted in real-life experiences, not jargon or partisan framing.

Why This Project Matters

Many people are disconnected from civic processes—not because they don’t care, but because the systems feel confusing, inaccessible, or unwelcoming. CCEP works to close that gap.

By meeting people where they are and centering community voices, this project helps build confidence, agency, and collective understanding—especially for those historically excluded from civic spaces.

An informed community is a safer, stronger community.

Who This Is For

CCEP is for:

  • Community members seeking clarity and understanding

  • First-time or returning civic participants

  • Students, workers, families, and elders

  • Anyone who wants to better understand their rights and local systems

No prior knowledge is required—just curiosity and care for the community.

Get Involved

You can support the Community Civic Education Project by:

  • Attending or hosting a workshop

  • Helping distribute educational materials

  • Volunteering as a facilitator or support person

  • Sharing resources with your networks

Building Power Through Knowledge

CCEP is about equipping people with tools—not pressure. When communities understand their rights and systems, they are better positioned to protect themselves, support one another, and shape the future they want to live in.

Education is empowerment.
Knowledge is protection.
Community is power.
